Pune Innovation Jam 2015, part of the Global Service Jam, was held on February 27 to March 1 at the Pimpri Chinchwad Science Park, Morwadi, Chinchwad.

Pune Innovation Jam 2015, part of the Global Service Jam, was held on February 27 to March 1 at the Pimpri Chinchwad Science Park, Morwadi, Chinchwad.

This event was conducted at Pune for the second time and this time it was organised by a Design Consultancy, Intoit Solutions, based in Bhosari, in association with ProCluster and Pimpri Chinchwad Science Park.

The event was open for participation to anyone from any discipline. The primary purpose of the event was to bring together people from different disciplines to collaborate and work on a secret theme, which was revealed on the day of the event. Secondly, the event helped the people to get off their mundane daily schedule and meet different people to direct their time and energy in a creative approach, to design something of common good. Meanwhile, the participants also got familiarised with the tools and methods of the art of creative problem solving.

This year, in order to promote design thinking into the younger section of the society, the event was conducted for both students and professionals. Students from different schools and colleges such as Abhishek Vidyalayam, Jnanaprabodhini, PK Technical Campus etc participated in the event.

Also professionals from the iconic industries attended the event as mentors, guiding the participants and teaching them some design tools to come up with innovative ideas. Pradeep Deulkar (Manager, Design, Bajaj Auto Ltd.), Sheetal Ingolikar (Senior UI Designer, Infosys), Gerard Rebello (Prinncipal Design Consultant, Kaleidos), Sanket Magarkar (Chief Designer, Samsung), Vikrant Bhalerao (Engineer, Cummins), Mandar Kale (Faculty, DSK), Alok Asthana (Trainer and Innovation Consultant, Innovators and Leaders), Rupesh Helwade (Manager, Mahindra) etc. to mention a few.

Six teams participated in the event, each having members from diverse fields and professions. Each team brought up individual interpretations of the theme and worked on it, to develop ideas which can solve some or the other problems within our society. While one team came up with an idea to make toys which are equally fun as well as useful. Another team brought up a concept to prevent littering by adding some fun elements into the garbage collection cans.

The ideas and concepts developed by the teams were evaluated by a jury panel and the best teams were awarded. Forbes Marshal, Mittal industries, Krishna Ranjan Bahuddeshiya Samajik Sanstha and Vedanti Solutions supported and promoted the event as sponsors. BigFlo, PACO, Explore-i, Innovators and leaders and Profarm were the official supporters of the event.
